The story

Spreadsheets shouldn't feel like homework.

Accounts Slayable makes spreadsheet templates and writes about personal finance for people who would rather not think about money, and yet somehow still have to.

Hi, I'm Adam

Founder, solo operator, spreadsheet enthusiast

I run Accounts Slayable out of Up & Adam LLC, a small queer-run studio on the east coast. I write about personal finance for freelancers, W-2 workers, credit-card-rewards nerds, side-hustlers, and anyone trying to automate a spreadsheet instead of paying monthly rent on yet another finance app. I am not a CPA or a certified financial planner. I am the person at the party who got cornered into explaining quarterly taxes because everyone else was too embarrassed to ask.

I started this because the existing options were either $99 a year with a guilt trip baked in, or $7 Etsy files clearly built by someone who had never filed a Schedule C. Nothing in between felt like it was made by a person who had actually used the thing they were selling. Meanwhile, every smart and funny person I know was losing entire weekends to a shoebox of receipts or walking away from hundreds of dollars in credit card rewards because nobody bothered to explain the system in plain English.

So I built what I wanted to exist: spreadsheets that respect your time and tell you what to do instead of staring at you. One-time purchases. Zero finance-bro vocabulary. Enough personality that you might open them on a Sunday without feeling like you're being scolded by a spreadsheet.

The rules of the house

What we believe

Tools before advice

Most people get plenty of advice. What they're short on is a working spreadsheet that shows them where their money actually goes.

Buy once, keep forever

Your budget tracker shouldn't cost more than your streaming services. $29 one-time, no renewals, no hostage-taking your data.

Clarity before complexity

If a finance tool requires a 40-minute tutorial before you can open it, the tool is the problem. Ours come with a one-page setup.

Defaults are a design choice

Finance apps assume things about who you are and how your household works. Ours let you tell the spreadsheet who you are and what you want to track.

Vibes check

Who this is for

You'll feel at home if

  • Freelancers, consultants, and creators who'd rather spend 10 minutes with a good spreadsheet than 10 hours with a bad one
  • Anyone who has said "I'll figure out taxes later" and then panicked in April
  • People who want a system without the corporate-finance-app energy
  • Overthinkers who need to see a number on screen before they can relax

Probably not your scene if

  • People who already love QuickBooks (keep going)
  • Anyone hoping I'll tell them how to pick stocks (I won't, legally or otherwise)
  • Folks who want a subscription to hold their hand forever
